// SUMMER 2026 * PERSONAL PROJECT * 3 WEEKS

// goals

Design an adjustable lamp that has direct and ambient lighting capabilities. House a tactile button using 3d printed parts and springs.

// concept

Tower-like form with a central hinge where the head of the light hinges to project light.

Larger angle = more direct

Smaller angle = more ambience

// button mechanism

A coil washer sits between precisely modeled 3d printed parts that support the washer and wires running through the housing.

// cmf

3d printed parts post processed and painted to mimic injection molded parts as this is a high fidelity model.

Off-white head, black body, red at the pivot and the button to accent where the user interacts.

// reflection

When designing enclosures for electronics you must think about service before assembly. Getting the electronics in was easy, but getting them back out for repair changes how every internal component is laid out and fastened.

Studying injection molding for the production version created further discovery and learning. Gate placement, multi-part molds, and the mechanisms that release more complex geometry. This model is a high-fidelity proof of concept.
